Where Stone Meets Story: Kissel Valley Farm Project Feature
“Some hardscaping projects are more than a job. They’re the kind you look back on and feel.”
That’s how Larry Eidemiller, owner of CastleRock Landscape & Lighting, describes his work at Kissel Valley Farm. The stunning new event venue tucked in Lititz, Pennsylvania, is a testament to what happens when the right hardscaping materials and the right relationships come together.
A Partnership Decades in the Making
Larry’s relationship with Penn Stone stretches back to when he was first introduced to the Garber family, owners of Kissel Valley Farm, more than 20 years ago.
“For us, it’s not just about the transaction,” Larry said. “It’s about the relationship we can build with our customers, as well as with our suppliers.”
Penn Stone owner John McGrann remembers those early days well. “Back then, we were really the only place in Lancaster offering concrete pavers and hardscaping materials,” he said. “Larry and his business partner, Sherman, were two of our most likable, trustworthy customers. We got to know them and worked really closely together for a long time.”
That foundation of trust is what made a project of this scale possible.
A Place That Means Something
When CastleRock began transforming the Kissel Valley Farm grounds, the vision was clear: create a landscape that felt as special as the moments it would hold.
Penn Stone supplied the materials to bring it to life: Pine Hall Pathway clay brick pavers lined the winding entrance walk, Pennsylvania River Boulders and Southern Buff Chunks anchored the dramatic waterfall features, and Delaware River gravel wound through the naturalistic streambed. Every material was sourced and delivered quickly, without compromising on quality.
Jay Garber, the property’s owner, shared, “The boulder waterfalls are off the hook, and the brick pathway to the chapel is gorgeous. Penn Stone was able to source such a diverse range of products quickly and of the highest quality.”

His son Jon Garber, who manages the property alongside his wife Kayla, has watched the transformation firsthand — and lived it himself. Jon and Kayla were married at Kissel Valley Farm last September, walking down that very brick pathway as the first couple to do so.
“It was so surreal,” Kayla said. “Absolutely incredible to see the place come together into what it is now, and then finally get to walk down the aisle.”
For Larry, the feeling is full of heart.
“As a contractor, you dream of these moments,” he said. “To go from getting the product to installing it, to providing a place where everybody can enjoy. It’s very, very satisfying.”
